     He was baptized on 6 January 1751 in Schenectady, Schenectady, New York, USA.2 He was born on 6 January 1750/51 in Schenectady, Albany, New York, USA.1 He was the son of Frederick Nicholas van Petten and Elizabeth Groot.1 He married Maria Wendel on 11 July 1777.1 He served in the American Revolution circa 1778. Simon was commissioned a 2nd Lieut. in Capt. John Van Patten's company of the 2nd Albany Militia.3,4,1 His farm was 4 miles from Schenectady on the Mohawk Turnpike leading to Utica, adjoining the property of John Haverly. It contained 125 acres, well watered, with a convenient dwelling-house and a large barn. Also mentioned in the 1813 "FOR SALE" ad was an extensive apple orchard. He and Maria were buried in the Van Patten burial ground, Barheyt Road. They were removed to the First Reformed Dutch Churckyard Cemetery in 1962 circa 1780.1,5 He was buried in 1819 in First Reformed Dutch Churchyard, West Glenville, Schenectady, New York, USA.5 He died in 1819 in Glenville, Schenectady, New York, USA.1
