     The ethnicity of Arent Andriessen Bradt was Norwegian. He was born in 1618 in Fredrikstad, Ostfold, Norway.2,1 He emigrated on 8 October 1636 from Texel, Netherlands. He arrived on March 4, 1637. Apparently he traveled wih his brother Albert aboard the Rensselaerswyck. He settled in New Amsterdam where he remained with his brother for a year before acquiring a plantation of his own, growing tobacco.3 He married Catalyntje de Vos, daughter of Andries de Vos, in 1648 in Rensselaerswyck, Albany, New York, USA.4,2,1 He died in 1662. Source 4493 indicates that in the spring of 1662, Catalyntje De Vas, Widow of Arent Andriese Bratt and 14 others started from Beverwyck (now Albany) to the "Great Flatt" and founded the present town of Schenectady.

In the summer of 1777 he served in the campaign against Burgoyne and in the spring of 1778 in an expedition to Beaverdam under Captain Thomas Brower Banker. During the summer of 1778 he was on duty at the Lower Fort Schoharie and in the fall, on of the garrison of Fort Plain. In October 1781 he marched under Captain John Van Patten in pursuit of Major Ross and Butler. Elizabeth, his wife received a pension.3 He married Elizabeth van Petten, daughter of Phillip Frederickse van Petten and Debora Viele, on 13 June 1790 in Schenectady County, New York, USA.4,1 He died on 16 August 1814 in Rotterdam, Schenectady, New York, USA, at age 52.5,1 He was buried after 16 August 1814 in Vale Cemetery, Schenectady, Schenectady, New York, USA. Cornelius's plot was located in E Sec I 1 Right Grave 30.6 His estate was probated on 10 October 1814 in Schenectady County, New York, USA.7
