Passed away Thursday evening, December 6, 2007 at Avalon Care Center in Pullman, WA. Frank was born on January 16, 1920 in Holyoke, CO to Frank and Clara (Foy) Koberstein, the fifth of seven children. Frank attended a rural school in Phillips County, Colorado and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1938. In 1942 he entered the US Army, serving in the 191st Tank Battalion. He served under General Patton as they moved through Northern Africa, Italy and Sicily. Later his battalion moved through Southern France and into Germany, providing tank support for the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp and then on to the Munich Airport as German pilots surrendered. Lee was honorably discharged from the Army in 1946 and then came to Pullman, WA where he attended Washington State College for about two years. He began working at what was the Struppler's Restaurant and the Cordova Theatre. He became a projectionist and service technician for the area theatres until ill health forced his retirement in 2006. He also worked as an electrician and TV repair man. Lee enjoyed a 31 year career working for the City of Pullman, starting with parking meters and ending as a traffic signal and water well systems technician. He enjoyed gardening, restoring old furniture, auctions and remodeling older homes. He met Vernelle Meusborn in Pullman and they were married on December 22, 1961. They had one son Stephen. He is survived by his wife and son of Pullman; a brother Roy and his wife Pauline, two sisters Winona Rouze and Emily Haynes and husband Deb all of Holyoke, CO; one niece; 11 nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Lee was preceded in death by a brother Floyd and his wife Mary; Brother Ray; brother-in-law Glenn Rouze; Sister Faye Dulgar and her husband Art and one nephew James Dulgar. There will be no public service and Lee will be interred in Pullman's IOOF Cemetery on West Main St. Memorials may be made in his name to the Elks Rehabilitation Hospital, 600 N. Robbins Rd., Boise, ID 83702, KIMBALL FUNERAL HOME OF PULLMAN is caring for the family.
