He was born on 22 May 1809 in County Tyrone, Ulster, Northern Ireland.1,3 He was the son of James Wilson and Mary Spier.2 He married Jane Dunbar, daughter of Thomas Dunbar and Jane Hunter, on 25 December 1833 in Ancaster, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada.1,4 On 1 February 1864 Thomas Wilson obtained a land patent for 160 acres of land under the Cash Entry Act of 24 Apr 1820. That act reduced the minimum price of public land to $1.25 per acre, and the minimum purchase to 80 acres, but required payment in cash, not on credit. His tract was described as the SW¼ of section 12, township 8N, range 12E of the 6th PM. Certificate number 316 in Otoe County, Nebraska, USA.5 He died on 10 February 1867 in Dunbar, Otoe, Nebraska, USA, at age 57.1,3 He was buried after 10 February 1867 in Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Otoe, Nebraska, USA.3
