He was born on 22 May 1809 in County Tyrone, Ulster, Northern Ireland.^1,3 He was the son of James Wilson and Mary Spier.² He married Jane Dunbar, daughter of Thomas Dunbar and Jane Hunter, on 25 December 1833 in Ancaster, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada.^1,4 On 1 February 1864 Thomas Wilson obtained a land patent for 160 acres of land under the Cash Entry Act of 24 Apr 1820. That act reduced the minimum price of public land to $1.25 per acre, and the minimum purchase to 80 acres, but required payment in cash, not on credit. His tract was described as the SW¼ of section 12, township 8N, range 12E of the 6th PM. Certificate number 316 in Otoe County, Nebraska, USA.⁵ He died on 10 February 1867 in Dunbar, Otoe, Nebraska, USA, at age 57.^1,3 He was buried after 10 February 1867 in Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Otoe, Nebraska, USA.³
