He was discharged honorably to attend college in Orange, Calif. After college the joined the U.S. Air Force Officer Navigation Program. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired as a Major after 26 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L Cardwell in January of 2004. He is survived by two sons, Mike Cardwell and his wife Suzy of Virginia Beach, Va., and Pat Cardwell and his wife Vicky of Fayetteville; a daughter, Debbie Mullins and her husband Carlos Guedes of Vista, Calif; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 6 at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma, Calif. Memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice or Rancho Vista retirement facility. Arrangements are by Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Mortuary and Crematory. on 26 February 2006.
