Death cert indicates he was born in 1880 and he does not appear with his parents in the 1880 US census.4,5,6 He was the son of James Lee Lowe and Mary Nelson Birchfield Thomas.2,3 He married May Belle Lowrey, daughter of Samuel Oliver Lowrey and Priscilla Jane Whittaker, on 20 May 1900 in Nebraska City, Otoe, Nebraska, USA.2,7,5 He died on 25 March 1939 in Crocker, Polk, Iowa, USA, at age 59. William was shot through the heart by a 17 year old hitchhiker he picked up on Highway 65 near Ankeny, Iowa. He worked for the Salvation Army and apparently spent quite a bit of time on the road.6 He was buried on 28 March 1939 in Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, Polk, Iowa, USA.8,9
