Father*James Calhoun1 b. 11 May 1802, d. 11 Mar 1868
Mother*Mary Hogg1 b. 17 Jul 1807, d. 17 Sep 1885
She was born on 27 October 1847 in Breathitt County, Kentucky, USA.1,2 She was the daughter of James Calhoun and Mary Hogg.1 She married Green Riley Carpenter in 1867.3,1 She died on 10 April 1931 in Woodford County, Kentucky, USA, at age 83.1,2,4 She was buried after 10 April 1931 in Versailles Cemetery, Versailles, Woodford, Kentucky, USA. Permelia's plot was located in Sec D2, Lot #573, Grave #3, Block #1.5

Census Information

She appeared on the 1860 Federal Census of District 1, Breathitt, Kentucky, USA, in the household of her parents, James Calhoun and Mary Hogg.6 She and Green Riley Carpenter appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Lee, Jessamine, Kentucky, enumerated June 1900, This is inconsistent with Sarah being married in 1884 to Charles Wells, she is listed as single. One of her sisters (I think Lillie) is married to Frank Clark and she is enumerated withj a last name of Carpenter so the 1900 census may be incorrect with respect to her being single. Maybe Charles married a different Sarah Jane or maybe the census is in error, not sure.. Their children America, Sarah, John, Henry, Mary, Lillie, Daniel, Milburn, Jacob and Minnie were listed as living with them.3
