Teunis Swart1

Teunis lived near the Fourth Flat in Glenville about five miles from
Schenectady on the north side of the river. During the Revolution his brick
house, later called the "Old Fort", was stockaded and armed with with a small
field piece. He was a lieut. under Capt. John Van Patten in the 2nd Albany
Militia. He served in all the principal expeditions up the Mohawk and
commanded the advance guard in pursuit of Walter Butler when he (Butler) was
killed.
