• Information in the Register indicates that Ruth Green was the sister of John and Henry Rolfe. The author indicates that Ruth's brother John arrived on the ship Confidence with wife Ann, daughter Ester and servant Thomas Whittier. The wills of the brothers refer to their sister that married Thomas Whittier. So we don't know if she was a half-sister or possibly a widow (Green) prior to her marriage to Thomas Whittier.
  Charles Collyer Whittier indicates the persons in John Rolfe's will were actually Thomas' brothers rather than his children based on finding a record of Mary Rolfe's marriage to Richard Whiteer, making her Thomas' mother.^2,3
• Ruth Green was also known as Ruth Rolfe. The wills of John and Henry Rolfe reference their sister married to Thomas Whittier. There is some dispute over this.^4,3
