- He served as Colonel is his own regiment at Bunker Hill, in the Canadian expedition and in the New Jersey Campaign of 1776-77. As Brig. General, he commanded troops at the Battle of Bennington. Later he commanded at Saratoga and became comander of the Northern Dept. He was promoted to Major General at the end of the war. See Appletons' Cyclopedia for more details of his life.1,3
