He was born in Burgess, Va., on February 14, 1920. After education in the public schools of Northumberland County, Mr. Kilduff graduated from Virginia Tech, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, with a degree in business administration. He served in the infantry during World War II. After the war, he worked for Sylvia Motor Company in Burgess, and in 1961 he joined his father at Walter L. Kilduff, Inc., an oil and gas distributorship for Texaco in Reedville. He owned and operated the business until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Kilduff served for 43 years as a director of the Bank of Northumberland, Inc., a predecessor of EVB, and also served as vice-chairman. He was a charter member of the Northumberland County Lions Club and remained a member until his death. He was a member of the Northumberland Civic Center Board, which operated recreational facilities in Burgess, and helped effect its sale and the administration of the proceeds for charitable purposes. Mr. Kilduff was a communicant of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Heathsville for over 60 years, and served as its treasurer for 33 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Meade Neale Kilduff; two sons, W. Leslie Kilduff Jr. of Kilmarnock and William B. Kilduff of Richmond; a daughter-in-law, Lee Kilduff; three grandchildren, Carrington, Kyle, and Anna; and one sister, Reed K. Simmons. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Brent family home, "Roanoke" in Heathsville, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund (attention: Ellen Kirby). Jones-Ash Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
