Charles Edward Knapp, son of John and Lucy Knapp, was born near McDonald, in Rawlins County, Kans. on February 22, 1889, and departed this life on October 26, 1966, at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 4 days. In early childhood he was baptized into the Baptist faith.
On May 7, 1912 he was united in marriage with Alma Beckman. They moved to a farm just one mile from the place of his birth, and there they lived for 54 years--until the time of his death. Seven children were born to this union, four sons and three daughters.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of McDonald, Kansas.
Charles was a loving husband and father; a man who labored hard and long. Outside interests included hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by one son, Howard E. Knapp, in 1945. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Alma; three sons, Floyd R. of Woodrow, Colo. and Charles W. and Orville L., both of McDonald; three daughtes, Mrs. Anna Ewing of St. Francis, Mrs. Rena Pickett of Goodland, and Erma June of the home. There are 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, John and Fay, both of McDonald, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon from the Federated Church with Rev. Swihart officiating. Interment was held at the McDonald cemetery with Masonic graveside services.
