Dean Robert Whisler Funeral services for Dean Robert Whisler, 81, of Sheridan will be 2 p.m. Monday at United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Robert Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are with Kane Funeral Home. Mr. Whisler died Thursday, July 28, 2005, at his residence. He was born April 11, 1924, in Rozet to David Riley and Vida Pearl (Duval) Whisler. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a ship's cook second class in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged in January 1946. He married Helen Kottraba on Sept. 14, 1946, in Lincoln, Neb. They lived in Kaycee and Gillette before moving to Sheridan in 1998. Mr. Whisler was self-employed in several occupations, including operating a drilling rig. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dean “Rusty” of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Deana May Orona of Worland; a brother, Leonard of Upton; two sisters, Evelyn Donner of Gillette and Ellen Cummings of Basin; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
