     Mary A Chandler Chandler may have been known as Mary A Leathers.2 She was born circa 1845 in New York, USA.3 As of 25 December 1865,her married name was Van Patten.1 She married Albert John (Morgan) Van Patten, son of Peter Veeder Van Petten and Naomi Cuddeback, on 25 December 1865 in Peoria, Peoria, Illinois, USA; John's mother died shortly after his birth and since he was from a large family, he was given to Peter and Naomi to take care of. Although he met his family later in his life, he took the Van Patten family name for himself. He is mentioned in Peter's will as an adopted son and received no inheritance.4,5 Mary A Chandler Chandler and Albert John (Morgan) Van Patten appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Prairie, Keokuk, Iowa, enumerated 11 June 1880.
