Milit-Beg*He enlisted with the Wisconson Volunteers on 15 June 1861, in Company G 6th Infantry. He later transferred to Company D. He was captured by the South twice during his enlistment. He was first captured at the battle of Gettysburg on July 2, 1863 and confined in Richmond, Va until August 6 when he was paroled at City Point, Va. On May 5, 1864 he was captured a second time at the battle of the Wilderness. He spent time in various Southern POW camps including Andersonville from May to September of 1864. He was finally paroled in February of 1865.9,10
