Just a guess based on children's ages, Elijah is living at home with his parents in 1860 census.1 Elijah Ison served for the Confederacy in the Civil War circa 1865. His headstone indicates he served in Company H of the 13th Kentucky Cavalry.4 He died on 24 May 1877 at age 44.4
